Genesis Nest Boxes are simple to install but care should be taken to ensure the area is clear of obstacles and cables. Ladders should always be secured or held.

Height & Location: Depending on species, generally 2-5 metres high. Swifts need high eaves or towers; owls and kestrels need larger spaces in barns, mature trees.
Orientation: Avoid south-west facing walls, aim for north-east or sheltered positions to avoid harsh weather.
Maintenance: Clean out after nesting season. Remove old nests, check for parasites. Do not use strong chemicals.
Protect from predators: anti-predator boxes, placing boxes out of reach of cats, rats, squirrels; considering predator guards where feasible.
